The graduation project of Engineer Adel Hassan, one of the alumni of the Department of Architectural Engineering, was under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Ibrahim Alawe, Lecturer Dr. Raed Fawzi Amin, Assistant Lecturer Maryam Diaa, and Assistant Lecturer Aws Jaafar, was nominated on the list of the 100 best international projects within the Tamayouz Excellence Award For his project ( Redevelopment of Maitham Al Tamar Street.)
The project aimed to redevelop Maytham Al-Tamar Street to solve many problems, including the intersection of car traffic with pedestrians, random land use, air pollution from car exhausts, and pollution of the visual appearance of building facades. The project recommended re-planning the site and organizing the distribution of land uses, as well as organizing movement paths and streets. Pedestrian traffic was raised to the first floor and isolated from car traffic by providing a network of pedestrian bridges on the main street and suitable urban spaces, in addition to providing organized parking on several floors.
